Record a PowerPoint Presentation With Audio

Start your slide show, then press Record below and share the slide show's window or your screen. Your microphone records your voice, and the Camera bubble puts your face in a corner. Works for PowerPoint, Keynote and Google Slides.

Pick what to share and the sound, then press Record.

What to share

Set up for a talk: whole screen and microphone on; turn on Camera bubble for your face.

A recorded talk in one take

PowerPoint can record a narration slide by slide. This is the other way: one continuous video of your slides, your voice and, if you like, your face, which is what most people mean when they are asked to "send a recording of your presentation".

Share the whole screen when you use the camera bubble: the bubble floats over your slides, and only a whole-screen recording includes it. Turn on Camera bubble first, drag it to a corner your slides leave empty, then press Record.

A worked example: a 12-minute presentation comes to roughly 360 to 480 MB as an MP4. Check the upload limit of the place you send it to.

Questions

Can I record Google Slides the same way?

Yes. Present the slides in Chrome and share the screen, or share the Slides tab if you don't need the camera bubble.

Why doesn't my face show in the video?

The camera bubble is a floating window, so it is recorded only when you share the whole screen. Share Entire screen instead of a window.

Can I include sound from a video in my slides?

Yes, with Computer sound on. On Windows share the screen with system audio; on a Mac you need Chrome 141 or later on macOS 14.2 or later.

What file do I get?

An MP4 in Chrome, Edge and Safari, and a WebM in Firefox.

Ask people before you record them, on a call or in a meeting.
