How to Screen Record on Windows, With Sound
Open this page in Chrome or Edge, press Record, pick Entire screen and turn on Also share system audio. You get the screen, everything your PC plays and your voice, saved as an MP4. It works the same on Windows 10 and 11, a desktop PC or a laptop (HP, Dell, Lenovo and the rest).
Set up for Windows: whole screen, computer sound and microphone on.
Recording a Windows screen, step by step
The recorder above is set for the usual case: your whole screen, the sound your PC plays (a video, a call, a game in a window) and your microphone. Chrome and Edge on Windows can share the whole system's sound, so nothing extra is needed: no driver, no app, no account.
A worked example: a 5-minute recording of a full HD screen at the recorder's settings comes to roughly 150 to 200 MB, because the video is saved at about 5 megabits a second. The file is made in your browser and saved to your Downloads folder.
What Windows has built in
Windows has two recorders of its own. The Xbox Game Bar (Windows key + G, then the record button, or Windows key + Alt + R) records one app at a time, not the desktop or File Explorer. On Windows 11, the Snipping Tool also records video of a part of the screen. This page is for when you want the whole screen, a window or a browser tab with its sound and your voice, without hunting for settings.

Questions
Is there a shortcut to screen record on Windows?
Windows key + Alt + R starts and stops the Xbox Game Bar's recorder, which records the app in front, not the desktop. For the whole screen with sound, use the recorder on this page.
Why is there no system audio switch in the share window?
Chrome and Edge show it when you share the whole screen or a tab. If you picked a single window, go back and pick Entire screen, or pick a tab and keep Also share tab audio on.
Does it work on Windows 10?
Yes. It runs in the browser, so any recent version of Chrome or Edge on Windows 10 or 11 records the screen with sound.
Will my recording have a watermark or a time limit?
No. There is no watermark and no time cap. The video is held in memory until you save it, so for a very long recording close heavy apps first.
