How to Record a Google Meet Call

Meet runs in a browser tab, so share that tab: press Record below, pick the Meet tab, and keep Also share tab audio on. The tab carries everyone else's voices and your microphone adds yours. This works on any computer with Chrome or Edge, Mac included. Ask everyone first.

Why share the tab

Meet's own Record button comes only with some paid Google plans. Sharing the tab works with any account: the call's sound plays inside the tab, and Chrome can always record a tab's sound, even on a Mac where it can't record the whole system. Microsoft Teams in the browser (teams.microsoft.com) works exactly the same way: share the Teams tab.

The video shows the Meet tab: the speaker, the grid, or a presentation someone shares. Your own voice comes in through the microphone switch here. Use headphones so your microphone doesn't hear the call a second time.

Record a Google Meet call

  1. Join the callJoin the Meet call in Chrome or Edge, and open this page in another tab.
  2. Share the Meet tabPress Record, pick the Chrome Tab option, choose the Meet tab, and keep Also share tab audio on.

Can I record Google Meet without a paid plan?

Yes, by recording the tab yourself: this recorder takes the Meet tab's picture and sound and your microphone, with any Google account.

Does the recording include the other people's voices?

Yes, when Also share tab audio is on. Their voices play in the Meet tab, and sharing the tab records them.

Does it work for Microsoft Teams?

Yes, for Teams in the browser: share the Teams tab with its audio. For the Teams desktop app, share the screen with system audio on Windows, or on a Mac with Chrome 141 or later.

Will the others know I'm recording?

No notice is shown to them by this recorder, so tell them yourself and ask first.
