How to Screen Record on a Chromebook, With Audio
Press Record below, pick your screen or a tab in Chrome's share window and turn on the audio switch there. You get the Chromebook's sound and your microphone in one video that you download. Nothing to install, and it works on school and work Chromebooks that allow screen sharing.
Set up for a Chromebook: whole screen, computer sound and microphone on.
Two ways on a Chromebook
ChromeOS has its own Screen capture tool: press Shift + Ctrl + Show windows (the key with the stacked windows), choose the video camera icon, then pick the full screen, a part of it or a window. Its settings gear lets you turn on your microphone.
The recorder on this page is the other way. It runs in Chrome, mixes the sound your Chromebook plays with your microphone, and lets you watch the video back before you save it. If you share a single tab, you get that tab's sound for sure, which is the easiest way to record a video or a lesson playing in Chrome.
A worked example: a 10-minute class demo at the recorder's settings comes to roughly 300 to 400 MB. Chromebooks often have little free storage, so check the Files app before a long recording.

Questions
What is the Chromebook shortcut for screen recording?
Shift + Ctrl + Show windows opens the built-in Screen capture bar; choose the video icon to record. For a recording with the Chromebook's sound and your voice mixed, use this page.
Why didn't my Chromebook recording pick up sound?
The audio switch in Chrome's share window was off, or a single window was shared. Share the whole screen or a tab with its audio switch on. The recorder warns you if no computer sound came through.
Can I record my school Chromebook's screen?
If your school lets Chrome share the screen, yes. Some managed Chromebooks turn screen sharing off; then the share window won't open, and only your administrator can change that.
Where is the video saved?
In your Downloads folder, after you press Download. Until then it stays in the tab and nothing is uploaded.
