How to Record a Zoom Meeting
If you are the host, Zoom's own Record button is simplest. If you are not, or you want one file with everything on your screen, press Record below, share your screen or the Zoom window with system audio on, and keep the microphone on so your own voice is in it. Tell everyone first.
Set up for a call: whole screen, computer sound (the others' voices) and microphone (yours) on.
Getting both sides of the call
The other people's voices come out of your computer, so they are computer sound. Your own voice goes into the microphone, so it is microphone. The recorder mixes both into one video, which is why both switches start on here.
- Windows, Chrome or Edge: share Entire screen and turn on Also share system audio.
- Mac, Chrome 141 or later on macOS 14.2 or later: share the Zoom window or the screen and turn on Also share system audio. On an older Chrome, join the meeting in a browser tab (zoom.us lets you join from the browser) and share that tab with its audio. See the Mac guide.
- Zoom in a browser tab: share that tab with Also share tab audio on. This is the surest way to get the call's sound.
Wear headphones if you can: the microphone then picks up only you, not the call playing from your speakers, and the recording has no echo.
Consent
Tell everyone on the call that you are recording, and ask first. In some US states, recording a call needs the consent of everyone on it. This is general information, not legal advice.

Questions
Can I record a Zoom meeting if I'm not the host?
Zoom's own Record button needs the host's permission. This recorder records your own screen and sound instead. Either way, tell everyone and ask before you record.
Why is only my voice in the recording?
The computer sound didn't come through: the audio switch in the share window was off, or a single window was shared in a browser that can't take its sound. Share the screen or the Zoom tab with audio on.
Why is there an echo?
Your microphone heard the call through your speakers. Use headphones, or turn the Microphone switch off if you only need the others.
How big is a one-hour recording?
Roughly 1.8 to 2.4 GB at the recorder's settings. Keep the tab open and other heavy apps closed until you have downloaded it.
